On July 25, 2011, the NHAI and IAVSETPL (IRB Ahmedabad Vadodara Super Express Tollway Private Limited) (a Concessionaire), an SPV of IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd., entered into a Concession Agreement to develop, operate and maintain the Ahmedabad – Vadodara NH 8 and improvement of existing Ahmedabad – Vadodara Expressway (NE 1) Project.

The section of exiting NH-8 is parallel to the Ahmedabad – Vadodara Expressway. The concession period of the Project is 25 years from the Appointed Date. The Concessionaire is allowed to collect the notified user fee from the road users during this period.

IAVSETPL was entrusted to expand a 102.3 km section of NH 8 between Ahmedabad and Vadodara from two to six lanes and improvement of 93.302 km section of existing Ahmedabad – Vadodara Expressway (NE 1) in Gujarat on a DBFOT basis.

The Ahmedabad – Vadodara Project comprises the section of NH 8 from km 6.4 to km 108.7 and Ahmedabad – Vadodara Expressway (NE 1) from Km 0.000 to Km 93.302.

Corridor Description

The Ahmedabad Vadodara NH 8 and Ahmedabad Vadodara Expressway is a major lifeline for public transport connecting the cities Ahmedabad and Vadodara in the state of Gujarat.

NH 8 is one of the busiest highways in the subcontinent as it connects the national capital Delhi to the financial capital Mumbai, and other major cities along the way, including Gurgaon, Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat.

The Ahmedabad – Vadodara NH 8 Project is part of the most ambitious and prestigious Golden Quadrilateral project undertaken by the NHAI.
